Samsung Reveals the Galaxy Chromebook 2 With a Reasonable Price Tag

This is the first Chromebook to have a QLED display and comes with a convenient 2-in-1 design. The Samsung Galaxy Chromebook has always been an excellent device, but its $999 price has been enough to apperighten many. Paying so much for a Chromebook doesn't suit many potential pc buyers.

Samsung took to Samsung.com to rectify the situation with the announcement of the Samsung Galaxy Chromebook 2 and its surprising $549 starting price.

Samsung Galaxy Chromebook 2 Specs

Samsung is offering a Galaxy Chromebook 2 with a number of different configurations, the cheapest of which has an Intel Celeron 5205U processor with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage.

Obviously, Samsung had to cut some specifications to achieve such a low price and these are true of the location that we expect the Chromebook to be at this price.

However, if you're willing to spend $699, you'll get a Galaxy Chromebook 2 with an Intel Core i3-10110U processor, 8GB of RAM, and 128GB of internal storage. For $699, the specifications are pretty good, but they're not accurate enough to blow you away. They are close to the specifications provided in the previous model but at a much lower price.

Outside of the core specifications, the laptop is quite impressive. It has a 13.3-inch QLED display with a resolution of 1920X1080 (last year's model had a 4K OLED display). It supports a touch pen that works with the USI Pen, but Samsung doesn't include it in the box.

The 2-in-1 laptop is lightweight at 2.71 pounds. If mobility is of significant concern to you, then this Samsung Chromebook is a great choice. It is 12 inches wide, 8 inches high and 0.54 inches deep.

Other notable features include a microSD card slot, two USB-C ports, a 720p webcam, Wi-Fi 6 support, a backlit keyboard, and a decent 45.5Wh battery.

While it may be obvious, the Samsung Galaxy Chromebook 2 comes with a pre-installed Chrome OS. It also supports many Google Play apps, which greatly expands the functionality of the device. As a Samsung device, it also supports the Galaxy ecosystem.

When Will the Samsung Galaxy Chromebook 2 Be Available?

Samsung's new Chromebook is set to launch in the first quarter of 2021, although Samsung did not disclose a specific date. Hopefully, it will come out soon as this is a pretty nice laptop that we want to try out.

If you like vibrant laptops, Samsung offers the Galaxy Chromebook 2 in bright Fiesta Red colors. Vividness is a gentle way of speaking, since this color is extremely bright. The company is also offering Chromebooks that are a softer Mercury Grey color that will work better for those who like to keep things subtle.
